|  | Amir made his inaugural performance with Pro Arte in 2007 in Primavera performing the Mozart piano concerto in A, K.414. He appeared again with the group performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.3 in the ABC Classic FM Classic 100 Concerto concert.
In 2008 he performed the Mozart piano concerto in C minor, K491, in the season-launching concert, Diamonds in the Sky.
Amir Farid is a Melbourne based solo pianist, associate artist and chamber musician. He has been described as ‘a highly creative musician - a pianist of great intelligence and integrity. In 2006, he won the prestigious Australian National Piano Award.
His achievements include winning the 2005 Hephzibah Menuhin and 3MBS Performer of the Year awards, the Dandenong Eisteddfod’s three major sections and Gold Medallion and was a semi-finalist in the Lev Vlassenko National Piano Competition. As an accompanist, he won both the Best Pianist prize at the 2006 Mietta Song Recital Award and the 2007 Geoffrey Parsons Award.
Amir has also been the subject on ABC Classic FM’s Rising Star program, hosted by Graham Abbott.
He studied with Prof. Ronald Farren-Price at the University of Melbourne where he graduated with Honours. Amir attended the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), where he worked with Rita Reichman, Timothy Young and Geoffrey Tozer.
Amir is pianist of the Benaud Trio (www.benaudtrio.com), winning the Piano Trio prize at the prestigious 2005 Australian Chamber Music Competition. He has undertaken a residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada, performed with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra and with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as part of its Young Artists Program.
