Jeffrey Crellin is one of Australia's most respected musicians, acclaimed as both oboist and conductor.

Jeffrey resigned as Artistic Director of Australia Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra in 2006, having held that position since he founded the group in 1990. He has now assumed the position as Artistic Director (Music), Academy of Performing Arts at Monash University.

Commonwealth Winner of the ABC Concerto Competition in 1973, a two-year Churchill Fellowship then took him to Freiburg, Germany to study with the renowned oboe virtuoso Heinz Holliger. Whilst in Germany he won First Prize in the Freiburgmusikhochshule Oboe Competition. He returned to Australia in 1977 to take up his current position of principal oboe with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and in 1990 founded the Australia Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra.

As conductor, Jeffrey Crellin has appeared with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, the Adelaide Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonia of Melbourne, the Royal Philharmonic Choir, and the Chamber Orchestra of Geelong.

As soloist, Jeffrey has made over one hundred concerto appearances with orchestras in Germany, France, Japan, and New Zealand, and has performed with all of Australia's leading orchestras. He has been invited to Japan on numerous occasions as soloist and chamber musician, and in 1993 was guest soloist and principal oboe with the Orchestre Ensemble Kanazawa.

Jeffrey's discography includes Distance and Entretemps by Takemitsu with the Arditti String Quartet for the Fontec Label, Riccardo Formosa's Oboe Concerto Dedica with Patrick Thomas and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for Vox Australis, Vers, L'arc-en-ciel Palma by Takemitsu with Norio Sato, Hiroyuki Iwaki and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for ABC Classics, and Images with Prudence Davis and Peter Lynch for the Move label.
