MCO Brand Mark

MCO Brandmark

The brand mark concept and design was conceived by MCO and drawn and developed at our direction by Smart Works.

It reflects a number of influences and we mention the key ones below. It is common, however, for people to bring new perspectives to, and find new meanings in, the mark.

Of the three elements - the radiant bars, the cross hatching of the strings and the orchestra's name - the first is at the core of the artistic conception for the mark.

The radiant bars soar above, illuminate and enfold the orchestra. They reflect:

  • shafts of illumination as from stage lights
  • the four strings of an instrument

In outlining the thoughts and influences that contributed to its design, we don't wish to constrain others' perceptions of what the brand mark could mean to them.

One often-mentioned interpretation is that the radiant bars resemble rhythm sticks and have an indigenous connotation. This was not part of the conception but we are not unhappy with this unintended reference.
